Composting needs to be made easy so that we can all make good soil at home.
The simplest recipe for good compost is: 2 parts dry leaves (carbon) + 1 part wet vegie, fruit, and animal scraps ( nitrogen ).
Collecting leaves for the compost is a great Autumn activity to do, as all the deciduous leaves are dropping.
Put them in a bin and keep them next to the compost, and whenever you throw 1 handful of veg scraps in , throw in 2 handfuls of dry leaves.
Children love playing with leaves!
